Easy Apple Puff Pastry Braid
Layers of flakey pasty, tart apple filling and a hint of cinnamon come together to make this deceptively easy apple puff pastry braid. It’s fancy enough for parties and potlucks but simple enough to make at home on weekend mornings for a special treat!

Easy Apple Puff Pastry Braid Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 can apple pie filling
- 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 egg
Instructions :
Thaw the sheet of puff pastry according to the package instructions.
Preheat oven to 400º F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside
Spread the apple pie filling along the center 1/3 length of the puff pastry, leaving 1/3 of the sheet free on either side.

Using a sharp paring knife, small pizza wheel or kitchen shears, cut 9-12 strips in the dough on either side. Cross one strip of dough from each side over the apple mixture to form a braid (see video below). Place the braid on baking sheet.
Whisk the egg well with a fork and brush over the pastry. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is cooked through and golden brown.
Allow the strudel braid to cool at least 10 minutes until cutting.
Enjoy slightly warm!
Optional icing recipe:
1/2 cup confectioner sugar
1-2 tsp milk
Drizzle over baked pastry.
