Apple Butter Ingredients

Here’s everything you need to make this slow cooker apple butter recipe. You can use other apple varieties but Honeycrisp is my personal favorite! They are the perfect balance of sweet and tart. Yum.

  • 2 1/2 cups apples (Honeycrisp, cored & diced)
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla bean paste
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Pinch kosher salt

Directions

1. In the bowl of your slow cooker/crockpot, combine the apples, apple cider, vanilla bean paste, cinnamon, and salt. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, stirring halfway through cooking.

2. Transfer the apples to a blender and puree until smooth. Return to the slow cooker and cook, on low for 1-2 hours until slightly thickened. Cool and store in glass (Weck) jars in the fridge for up to 1 month. Apple butter may be put in canning jars and processed in hot water bath for 20 minutes.
