Where to Stay in St. Augustine

You probably figured out by my Jacksonville guide that I love hotels / motels that have CHARM! The Local, in historic St. Augustine, is exactly that – charming! This all-digital hotel offers the modern conveniences of today with a unique, retro vibe. The Local is conveniently located, has 20 comfy rooms, lounging areas to enjoy a snack or drink and a refreshing pool.

Historic District of Old St. Augustine

Since St. Augustine lays claim to being the oldest city in the United States, visitors should definitely plan to explore the historic district. The entrance lies across from the oldest fort in America, Castillo de San Marcos. Other notable sites include Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth, The Lightner Museum and Anastasia State Park nature preserve.

Visit the St. Augustine Lighthouse

The St. Augustine Lighthouse was originally built in 1800 but… fell into the ocean. The lighthouse you see here was rebuilt between 1871-1874 and is now part of the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. Visitors can learn about the area and lighthouse through interactive exhibits and activities. Visitors may also climb all 219 steps to the top of the lighthouse for some pretty spectacular views.
