Because of the abundance of ocean and fun things to do, Jacksonville is, IMHO one of the best places to travel in Florida. With over 850 square miles of beaches and canals it is a water lovers paradise with tons of water-centric activities like kayaking, fishing, surfing and sunbathing. In addition, Jacksonville is full of culture and attractions for virtually everyone.

Where to Stay in Jacksonville

Although technically Atlantic Beach, The Hotel Palms is one of the cutest and most convenient hotels in Jacksonville, FL. The vintage motor court lodge has been revamped to include 11 guest rooms, a shared courtyard and lounge. Just about everywhere you look at the hotel is Instagram-worthy, so you may not even want to venture beyond the hotel property. Be sure to visit the coffee bar by Show Pigeon Coffee, which features a rotating menu of seasonal, artisanal drinks.

Surfschool at Jax Surf & Paddle

Jax Surf & Paddle is a retail store in Neptune Beach that offers clothing and swimwear, beach-related accessories, surf and paddle boards, gifts, gear, and more. Rentals, camps, and private lessons are available through Jacksonville Surf and Paddle surfschool where you can learn to surf, paddle board, bodyboard, and skimboard. Rent kayaks, bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas, as well as game sets like bocce ball, bean bag toss, and paddleball. Lessons and tours available 7 days a week. Availability is limited, so register early.
Visit The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens

One of the things Jacksonville is best known for is the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens which is the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida with over 5,000 works of art, in addition to the historic gardens along St. Johns River. Tour on your own or visit during one of the museum’s many programs or events. A favorite is to visit during one of the weekly Friday Night Picnic events, where you’ll bring your own blanket and dine al fresco in the Cummer Gardens from 5 to 9 p.m. Preorder your meal from the Cummer Cafe. Menu options vary.
Get a Latte from SAGO COFFEE

You may have figured out by now that I am a bit of a coffee lover. I really love checking out local coffee houses and trying their unique drinks. The Peaflower London Fog latte at Sago Coffee is absolutely beautiful and delicious and their patio is a great place to relax, study or visit with friends. Sago offers a variety of coffees and teas with signatures drinks and bottomless cold brew. In addition they have açaí bowls and savory and sweet breakfast and lunch items.




Kids Will Love The Mini Bar Donuts

Who are we kidding? It’s not just kids who will love The Mini Bar Donuts + Coffee! These donuts may be mini (about 1/3 the size of a regular donut) but they’ve got BIG taste! Flavors include fruity pebbles, samoa, pop tart, maple bacon, and coffee cake. True to their name, they also offer craft beer to those of age.
