If you’re looking for a simple and festive way to treat the family during the holidays, consider making this festive hot cocoa recipe and Christmas charcuterie! I guarantee it (and you) will be a huge hit! The actual hot cocoa recipe is so simple and you can make enough for the entire family using a crockpot. This is great for a Christmas movie night or a holiday party for your book club, girls night, playdate, etc.

Festive Hot Cocoa Recipe

Ingredients

6 cups whole milk

2 cups heavy cream

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Kosher salt

12 ounces semisweet chocolate (I used Ghirardelli chocolate chips)

Directions

  • Add the milk, cream, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a crockpot (here is mine!). Whisk until combined and the cocoa is dissolved. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Cover and cook on low, whisking every 30 minutes, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is hot, about 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Ladle into mugs and top as with either some marshmallows or whipped cream sprinkled with crushed candy canes, white chocolate chips, etc.

Christmas Hot Cocoa Charcuterie

Similar to a hot chocolate bar, but on a smaller scale, this Christmas charcuterie is the perfect addition to any hot cocoa experience. Add things like peppermint sticks, white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chunks, marshmallows of various sizes, and Hershey’s kisses. You can also add cinnamon or caramel if you’re so inclined. Whip cream and sprinkles are a festive way to top off your favorite holiday mugs!
